The Educational Foundation raises funds and awards Great Idea Grants for teachers in order to help motivated teachers fulfill their goals. Great Idea Grants to AAPS staff are awarded on an annual basis after careful review by the grants committee made up of board members and qualified community members.

Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation Great Idea Grant- $1000, awards for innovative teacher-facilitated, hands-on classroom projects that increase student achievement, stimulate curiosity, improve educational engagement and motivate staff and students.

Burns Park Players Arts Grant- $1,000, for student performing arts projects. This grant is funded by The Burns Park Players.

Eleanor Bihler Dalhmann Art Grant- $500, in honor of Mrs. Dahlmann, an art lover, will be awarded by the Dahlmann family of Ann Arbor to an art teacher who proposes a classroom art project primarily devoted to painting.

Huron Freeth Family Fund- $1000, for Huron High School teachers to enhance the educational experience of students. This fund was established by the Douglas and Lucia Freeth family in appreciation of the excellent education received by their sons at Huron High School.

JinRae Kim Fund Grants - $500 for grants supporting ESL families involvement in the day to day operations of their child's education and their own feelings of inclusion in the school buildings.

Pioneer High School Class of 1980 Funds for Special Education - $1000 for special education classrooms or programs. Funds for these grants are made possible by the Pioneer High School Class of 1980.

Mary Pedley Fund for World Language Instruction - $1000 for grants supporting innovative programs/projects in world language programs. This fund was established by friends and students of Mary Pedley who taught Latin in the AAPS for many years. Mrs. Pedley retired in 2010.

Marcy Westerman Grant for Art and Music Teachers- Up to $1000, in memory of Mrs. Westerman, a lover of the arts, former Board of Education member and community volunteer. This grant will be awarded to an art or music teacher to improve instruction through the purchase of supplementary or special instructional materials or equipment, or to support exhibits, performances or special projects.
